After dinner, he spoke of what he thought was the reason behind the success in Iraq. Not the surge as much as it was the change of hearts and minds of the Sunni's in Anbar province to stop fighting the Americans. He talked of the upcoming surge in Afghanistan and the challenges the economic crises pose. While not offering his opinion of a solution to Afghanistan, he told those in attendance to pay attention to the 8 people Obama has picked who will help shape his Afghan strategy and more importantly, who Obama picks or who ends up acting as the risk assessor.
